Tasmanian Summer Sky

Milky Way over Scottsdale, Tasmania.

Milky Way over Scottsdale, Tasmania.

One of the best reasons to live in Tasmania is the sky. It's constantly changing and each season is unique, but in the middle of summer the Milky Way is above and worth taking the trip outside the city lights to see.

We have opened a new page at Google+ (with the awful URL at the moment)

Hopefully we can engage a new audience with this platform. So if you are a G+ user, make sure that you like the page.

Not a lot of things on there yet, but give us time, it will build.

A Glimpse - Songs of the Siren

woman-at-the-end-of-the-bar-050-Edit-Facebook-No-Watermark.jpg

Model: Eve Beauregard
Suit by: Neil Pitts
Assistant: Reese Truscott
Production: Anita Holloway, Chris Rattray, David Quinn
Venue: The Royal Oak

This is just a sample of a very constructed shoot for the upcoming book Songs of the Siren featuring Eve Beauregard.

While the above photo isn't what I call truly representative of the final product. It is glimpse of the siren part of the final image.

The shoot was the first time having a team around me with the specific goal of creating one very styled image. It features three characters, a bar and hopefully a feeling of things are just not quite right. You will need to wait until the book is out to see the final image.

A Portrait of a Bendy Man

samora-WATER.jpg

Model: Samora Squid

Sam can do things with his body that would be called unnatural. He can twist, bend and generally make you feel just a bit awkward. His talent doesn't just stop a contortion, it included sword swallowing and even big nails in the face.

Sam has spent his adult life travelling showing his skills to the world. The above photo is only one of many taken of his body in strange shapes. Expect to see more of Sam on the blog in the future.

Commission - Snow Angel

JOF_0992-Editv2.jpg

Model: Genevieve House

Make Up: Liv Foley

This commission was for burlesque dancer Genevieve who's new act was based around white outfit and veil. At the time of the shoot it was still more of a concept than a set idea, but the term Snow Angel was use quite a lot.

This gave me an idea of shooting using mixed lights plus shutter drag for effect. What this means is that I used continuous lights (they don't flash) to light Gen on the sides to give motion blur and then two strobes (flashes) to stop motion. It gives an effect of movement but keeps her face sharp and clear.

The final touches where obviously done in Photoshop. Combining a couple different versions to increase the size of the veil. Colour and contrast work plus texture.

The end result is more etherial than I first envisioned, but happy none the less.
